1. Tell us about your practice, including the location (city & state) and the services you provide.
I practice in the Atlanta area with my office in Sandy Springs, GA. I provide tutoring and small group classes for companies. I also teach a small class on Useful Concepts for Spoken English Pronunciation in the Continuing Education Department of Clayton State University in Morrow, GA.
2. What do you find most rewarding about being a corporate speech trainer?
The most rewarding thing for me is to work with clients who understand their need for guidance in this area and who are willing to put some time into improving their pronunciation and speaking style.
3. What sets you aside from other corporate speech trainers?
I believe my energy at investigating the specific issues for each of my clients and educating myself about their specific focus. Sometimes there are underlying speech or language problems they may be unaware of and I work at helping them to understand and address them. I have the flexibility to continue with a client as long as he needs me even if our formal program has been completed.
4. If you were not a corporate speech trainer what job would you have?
I worked for most of my career as a speech pathologist in the public schools. If I wasn't a speech trainer I would be working privately as an SLP for articulation/apraxia disorders.
5. What is your favorite pastime?
In my spare time I spend time in the schools volunteering to assist students with reading. In this capacity I can work with them 1:1 with a minimum of paperwork and lots of personal satisfaction. I also love to attend live theater and enjoy reading for pleasure.
